Atkins Park Restaurant, Atlanta, GA: Southern Fried Goodness

Today, we went to Atkins Park Restaurant in the Virginia Highlands district

Menu
Drinks: water
Appetizers: Atkins Park Confit Wings
Entree: Southern Fried Chicken

The Atkins Park Confit Wings were delicious. The wings were tangy, sweet and crispy to the bite; carrot and celery sticks, along with either blue cheese or ranch dressing, was served with it. Unlike other confits I had the displeasure to taste, these wings were saturated with flavor, but not overpowered. Although I appreciate the infusion of flavor characteristic of a meat confit, I still prefer a little taste of the meat it once was.  Long story short, these wings were much too tasty to carefully place on a plate and capture photographically. They were delicious-- take my word for it.

Next on the menu was the Southern Fried Chicken.
Exactly-- and it was delectable. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, this chicken is the best Southern fried chicken I have ever placed into my mouth. The macaroni and cheese and garlic green beans suited the dish perfectly as well. Honestly, I was never the "gravy-type." None on my turkey. None on my plate. None in my mouth ever-- or so I thought. It seemed blasphemous to leave anything on my plate untouched, so I ventured for a taste. Surprisingly enough, it was delicious. The taste wasn't strong, but it added a little flavor to what would have otherwise been a pretty monotonous (albeit delicious) piece of fried chicken.
